- 100 grams rice (uncooked)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon paprika

- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 large head of fermented (sour) cabbage or blanched fresh cabbage
- 200 grams smoked meat or ribs (optional but recommended)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 bay leaves
- Water or broth (enough to cover)
