Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 100 grams rice (uncooked)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large head of fermented (sour) cabbage or blanched fresh cabbage
  • 200 grams smoked meat or ribs (optional but recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Water or broth (enough to cover)
