Baklava is a rich dessert made with layers of thin dough, nuts, and sweet syrup, widely enjoyed across the Balkans.

Instructions

Layer sheets of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter and adding chopped walnuts between layers. Finish with several layers of dough on top. Cut into pieces before baking. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until golden. In a separate pot, prepare syrup by heating sugar, water, and lemon juice until slightly thickened. Pour syrup over hot baklava and allow to absorb completely before serving. Serve at room temperature.
